People have a perception that nursing homes are sad places where old people go to die. This video shows that people who need support can continue to live joyful lives, surrounded by their favourite things and people who truly care. The video was made to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the People and Progress Continuing Care Conference. The theme: The Passion of Person Centred Care. Person-centred care is philosophy that allows people to live more meaningful lives while in long-term care. Person-centred care is a more holistic approach to providing care whereby staff and other caregivers know the resident on a deeper level, know their likes and dislikes, their personal history, their accomplishments and then use that knowledge to develop care plans that allows the person to maintain choice, independence and dignity.
